- Patricia Polacco's books are incredible. I just read The Junkyard Wonders. It made me cry.
- National Geographic has published a wonderful poetry book - Book of animal poetry - 200 poems with photographs that squeak, soar and roar!
- Rachel Isadora has retold some classic fairy tales in an African setting - e.g. The princess and the pea, Rapunzel & The twelve dancing princesses. All have African characters.
- Jennifer Fosberry's two books are just fabulous. She has written two picture books about men & women who changed the world.
- Ganesha's sweet tooth by Sanjay Patel & Emily Haynes is an adaptation of how Ganesha came to write the Mahabharata. It's a fun read with vibrant illustrations.
- Baseball Hour by Carol Nevius & Bill Thomson is her third rhyming fiction sport book. The illustrations are amazing photo-realistic paintings.
- Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns: A Muslim Book of Colors by Hena Khan & Amini Mehrodokht is a beautifully illustrated book that explains some basic aspects of Muslim culture.
- Faith by Maya Ajmera, Cynthia Pon & Magda Nakassis has photos & captions showing common elements of faith. It's a stunning book.
- Two fun new science series: one that teaches basic scientific concepts and the other Earth science.
